DESIGN

The KTM Adventure 250 looks almost identical to its bigger brother the KTM Adventure 390. It has the same sharp and aggressive styling, single unit headlamp, windshield, two-tone fuel tank, high and flat split seats and  long tail. The only visual differences are slightly different colors and decals and “250” on the fuel tank. The bike is available in two colors: blue/white and orange/white.

The KTM Adventure 250 features halogen headlamps with dual LED DRLs, LED turn signals and  LED tail lamps. It also has an LCD instrument cluster that displays basic information such as speed, gear, fuel level, odometer, etc. The bike also has a 12V charging port for charging mobile devices on the go. Technical information

The KTM Adventure 250 is powered by a BS6 compliant 248.8cc single cylinder liquid cooled DOHC engine that produces 30bhp of power and 24Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper  that facilitates smooth shifting and prevents the rear wheel from locking up during aggressive downshifts. The  fuel tank capacity of the bike is 14.5 liters and  mileage is 38.12 kmpl.

The KTM Adventure 250 has a split  steel trellis frame  suspended by upside-down WP  front forks and a WP preload-adjustable rear monoshock. The suspension provides long distance and good grip on rough terrain. The bike also has a 19-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel with MRF Meteor tubeless tires for good grip and stability on various surfaces. The braking system consists of separate discs at each end with ByBre calipers and dual-channel ABS that can be switched off for off-road mode.

 FEATURES

The KTM Adventure 250 is not as versatile as the KTM Adventure 390, but  still offers  useful features for adventure riding. Some of the features include:

 – Switchable two-channel ABS: This function allows you to turn off ABS rear wheel, improving handling and sliding on loose surfaces. – Slipper clutch: This function reduces clutch tension and prevents rear wheel vibration during heavy braking or gear changes. – 12V charging port: This feature allows you to  charge  mobile devices while driving. – LCD Display Panel: This feature displays important information such as speed, gear, fuel level, odometer, etc.  – Halogen lights with LED DRL: this feature gives the bike good visibility and style.

 COMPETITORS

The KTM Adventure 250 competes with other entry-level adventure bikes in the Indian market such as:

 – Royal Enfield Himalayan: This bike is powered by a 411cc single cylinder air cooled engine that produces 24.3bhp and 32Nm of torque. It has a five-speed gearbox and a fuel tank capacity of 15 litres. Comes with semi-digital instrument cluster, dual channel ABS, switchable rear ABS, hazard lights, etc. It is priced at Rs. 2.01 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).  – Hero XPulse 200: This bike is powered by a 199cc single cylinder air cooled engine that produces 18.1bhp of power and 16.15Nm of torque. CONCLUSION

The KTM Adventure 250 is a great bike for beginners who want to explore the world of adventure riding. It is not very powerful, so it is easy to handle both on  and off road. It’s also cheaper than larger adventure bikes, which is nice. However, it is not the best on very rough terrain or very fast highways. However, if you’re looking for a fun and versatile bike that can be ridden in city traffic as well as on the weekend, the KTM Adventure 250 might suit you.
